Morningside College to host WINGS career conference for young women on March 15
Approximately 300 eighth grade young women from 20 Sioux City area schools are expected to attend the WINGS Conference March 15 on the Morningside College campus to learn about careers with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Approximately 300 eighth grade young women from 20 Sioux City area schools are expected to attend the WINGS Conference March 15 on the Morningside College campus to learn about careers with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The opening session begins at 9:15 a.m. in Eppley Auditorium and will include remarks from Hayley Lange of Sioux City, a recent Morningside College graduate with a double major in biology and chemistry. Jenna Rehnstrom-Liberto, a 2006 Morningside graduate and marketing and communication manager for MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, will serve as emcee for the conference.
From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Buhler Rohlfs Hall, conference participants will attend a series of interactive career sessions conducted by 15 professional women with backgrounds in mathematics, science and technology.
Karla Santi, a 1998 Morningside graduate and chief executive officer/founder of Blend Interactive, will deliver the conference’s keynote address at 1:15 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium. Blend Interactive is a website design and development firm based in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The WINGS Conference is cosponsored by Morningside College, Western Iowa Tech Community College, Briar Cliff University, St. Luke’s College-UnityPoint Health, Siouxland District Health and CF Industries.
