Morningside College will host Voting 101, an interactive workshop for new voters, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, in the Yockey Family Community Room in the Olsen Student Center.

Morningside College will host Voting 101, an interactive workshop for new voters, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, in the Yockey Family Community Room in the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will show participants how voting works in Sioux City, Woodbury County and the state of Iowa. It will include information about voter registration, absentee voting, the specific components of a ballot, laws governing voting practices and ways to get involved in civic life.

Session leaders will be Dr. Valerie Hennings, director of the Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement at Morningside, and Theresa Weaver-Basye, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Sioux City.

Voting 101 is a community collaboration led by Morningside College and the League of Women Voters of Sioux City in partnership with the Woodbury County Auditor’s Office and the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office.
