The Morningside College student radio station, KMSC Fusion 93, has been nominated for national college radio awards for the fourth year in a row.

For their 2014 election night coverage, Morningside students are in the running for Best Public Affairs Program. Student Jianna Hoss of Spirit Lake, Iowa, anchored the broadcast, which involved over 50 students from the mass communication and political science departments.

For their coverage of a Morningside College versus Dordt College game, students Jenni Theisen of Le Mars, Iowa, and Paul Johnson of Jalingo, Nigeria, are nominated for Best Sports Play-By-Play (Basketball).

For a spot promoting Siouxland Mental Health, student Caitlin Fieselman of Lincoln, Neb., is a finalist for Best Public Service Promotion.

Winners will be announced at the 75th Annual Intercollegiate Broadcast System (IBS) Conference March 6-8 in New York City. Theisen and student Channing Pick of Le Mars, Iowa, will represent Morningside at the IBS Conference and awards presentation.

To be considered for an award, newscasts and programs must be well-written, timely and delivered in a professional manner.

The Intercollegiate Broadcast System is an organization of over 1,000 non-profit, education-affiliated radio stations.
