The event will take place on at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, in Weikert Auditorium.

Prindaville, a renowned artist and the Chair of Morningside’s Art Department, will share her expertise in raku ceramics—a traditional Japanese pottery technique known for its distinctive textures and striking contrasts. Her talk will explore the creative possibilities of raku ceramics, based on firsthand research from regional workshops and her extensive experience with glazing techniques.

Prindaville’s artistic career spans decades, with her work showcased in esteemed venues across the globe, from Madrid and Athens to New York City and Los Angeles. Her pieces are included in numerous public and private collections, and her unique approach has earned her residencies and accolades, including selection as a World Wildlife Fund tour artist and the inaugural artist-in-residence at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

Currently serving as the Director of the Helen Levitt Art Gallery and the Eppley Art Gallery, Prindaville is passionate about elevating the role of art in education and inspiring the next generation of artists. Her conversation will not only highlight the aesthetic and technical elements of raku ceramics but also emphasize the importance of exploration and creativity in the arts.
