In conjunction with a worldwide celebration of Shakespeare, Morningside College students, faculty and staff will do an informal reading of “Macbeth” from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the formal lounge of Roadman Hall, 3600 Peters Ave.

The event is free and open to the public. People can come and go or stay the whole evening. They can participate in the reading or just listen.

“We are doing this for fun to celebrate Shakespeare,” said Marty Knepper, professor and chair of English and modern languages. “This is not a polished, rehearsed reading.  We will have copies of the play there, and there will be drawings for Shakespeare prizes.”

Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616 – 400 years ago this coming Saturday. All over the world, people are remembering his work. The event at Morningside College is sponsored by the Friday is Writing Day program and the Department of English and Modern Languages.
