Morningside College will wrap up this year’s Betty Ling Tsang Summer Fine Arts Series with the musical “The Robber Bridegroom” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4 and 5, in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the college’s campus.

Performances are free and open to the public.

“The Robber Bridegroom” is a Southern-fried Robin Hood tale of Jamie Lockhart, a dangerous, handsome, backwoods rogue who’s a gentleman by day and a bandit by night.  When he falls for the beautiful daughter of a wealthy planter, his world and code of ethics are turned upside down.

The director of the production is Denise Heiman, and the music director is Deanna Mumgaard. In the event of rain, performances will move to Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the Morningside campus.

Morningside’s summer fine arts series is named for the late Betty Ling Tsang, a 1940 Morningside College music graduate. It is designed to bring free, quality music and theatre performances to residents of the Sioux City area.
