GPAC All-Sports Trophy stays at Morningside
Morningside won the GPAC All-Sports Trophy for the fifth time in the last six years.
Morningside won the 2016-17 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) All-Sports Trophy according to the final point standings announced by the league office.
Morningside won this year’s all-sports trophy with a total of 156 points for a 12.5-point margin over runner-up Concordia.
The Mustangs led all schools with 79.5 points in the men’s sports and were second with 76.5 points in the women’s sports.
Morningside won regular season GPAC championships this past year in football, softball and women’s cross country.
The Mustangs claimed the all-sports trophy for the fifth time in the last six years and for the seventh time in the last 11 years. Morningside also captured the GPAC All-Sports Trophy in 2006-07, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2015-16 and was the runner-up in 2008-09.
