Doane University’s national ranking was no competition for the Morningside women’s volleyball team on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018.

            The Mustangs knew the matchup they were facing and consistently held their own throughout the entire match. The Mustangs pulled ahead and won the first set with a score of 25-20. Krista Zenk totaled 5 digs and Kayla Harris pulled away with 6 digs, and Emma Gerber finished the set with 4 kills.

            The second set saw the Mustangs separate themselves with a huge gap in the score eventually finishing 25-16.  Krista Zenk was a standout player in the third set slamming Doane with three kills in a row. Morningside won the final set 26-24 to defeat Doane University 3-0. Kayla Harris finished with 18 digs while Krista Zenk was close behind with 14 and Callie Alberico with 10. Krista Zenk also had 10 kills and Emma Gerber close behind with 9 kills. Morningside totaled 40 kills, 33 assists, and 57 digs.

            Morningside is back in action on Thursday, Sept. 13 against Concordia. Good luck Mustangs!
