Mustang bowling teams kick off season at Midwest Collegiate Bowling Championships
The bowling season got underway for the Morningside College men’s and women’s bowling teams Saturday and Sunday at the 48th Midwest Collegiate Bowling Championship held in Wauwatosa, Wis.
The teams competed in a combined 30 individual games on Saturday and 16 team games on Sunday. The men’s team finished 22nd out of 40 teams, knocking down 8,881 pins for a team average of 193. McKendree University won the championship, knocking down 9,941 pins during the weekend.
Pin leaders for the Mustang’s men team were sophomore Tommy Croskery of Great Falls, Mont., finishing 61st, and junior Cameron Peterson of Sioux Falls, S.D., finishing 67th in the individual competition.
The women finished 24th out of 32 teams, knocking down 7,602 pins for a team average of 165. Lindenwood University won the championship, knocking down 8,927 pins during the tournament.
Among the Mustang women’s team, senior Emma Sonier of Sioux City and junior Mari Pizzini of Helena, Mont. finished 32nd and 64th, respectively.
Next up, the Mustang bowling teams will head to Wichita, Kan., Oct. 20-21 for the Midstates Tournament.
