Mustang jv team reigns at Morningside Fall Invite
The Mustangs’ junior varsity men’s golf team was a runaway winner at the Morningside Fall Invite.
Matt McGhee, a sophomore from London, Canada, fired a three-under par 69 to win individual medalist honors and lead the Mustangs’ junior varsity men’s golf team to a first place finish in a varsity field at Tuesday’s Morningside Fall Invite.
McGhee won medalist honors by a comfortable six-stroke advantage over runner-up medalist Joe Brinkman, who shot a three-over par 75.
Morningside’s Ben Peterson, a junior from Saint Anthony, Minn., and Tyler Danke, a sophomore from Sioux City, each carded 76s to finish tied for third place in the individual standings. The Mustangs’ Kyle Emery, a freshman from Carroll, Iowa, finished in eighth place with a 79.
Morningside’s junior varsity team was a runaway winner with a team score of 300 for a 24-stroke margin over runner-up Dakota Wesleyan’s 324.
