Three of Morningside’s relay teams were recognized for having the fastest times in the NAIA during the 2017 outdoor season.

Three Morningside relay teams and Mustangs’ track & field and cross country head coach David Nash were recognized at Thursday’s 2017 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention in Phoenix, Ariz.

Morningside’s men’s sprint medley relay team and its women’s sprint medley and distance medley relay teams received Accusplit Relay Awards given to the relay teams that ran the fastest times in their respective outdoor relay events during the 2017 outdoor season. The Mustangs’ relay teams had the nation’s fastest times in the NAIA division.

The men’s sprint relay team of Perman Wilson, Logan Roberts, James Farnan and Jacob Green ran a time of 3:31.56.

Morningside’s women’s sprint medley team of Eleka Joseph, Aurora Arevalo, Payton Boer and Michelle Mumm ran a time of 4:05.51.

The women’s distance medley team of Mumm, Joseph, Cassie Warner and Boer ran a time of 12:08.17.

All three award winning performances came at the 2017 Drake Relays.
