Morningside had place winning performances in the men’s and women’s 800-yard relays on day one of the NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships.

Morningside College had place winning performances in the men’s and women’s 800-yard freestyle relays on Wednesday at the 2018 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships in Columbus, Ga.

The Mustangs placed 14th in the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:18.72 from the quartet of Billy Salber, a sophomore from Omaha, Neb.; Lucas Farrington, a junior from Rockwell City, Iowa; Brenndan Gorski, a freshman from Sioux City; and John Dieter, a senior from Carroll, Iowa.

Morningside finished 16th in the women’s 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:17.71 from Suzanna Gonzalez, a senior from Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; Alisia Woodward, a junior from Waterloo, Iowa; Tessa Renze, a freshman from Omaha, Neb.; and Veronica Mullen, a junior from Omaha.

The NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships will continue through Saturday.
