Mustang women reign at Northwestern tourney
Morningside claimed team and individual honors at Monday’s Northwestern Spring Invitational women’s golf tournament.
Morningside had three of the top seven individual scores in the field en route to the team championship at Monday’s Northwestern College Spring Invitational women’s golf tournament at Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City, Iowa.
The Mustangs carded a team score of 381 to edge Mount Marty by two strokes to top a field of five teams.
Leading the way was Jeicy Rivas Plata, who shot a 90 on the windy day to claim individual medalist honors.
Caitlin Fieselman tied for fifth place in the individual standings with a 94 and teammate Nathalie Sanchez was one stroke back with a 95 to tie for seventh place.
The Mustangs completed their team score with a 102 from Callie Anderson.
The Mustangs will return to Landsmeer on Friday to compete in GPAC Qualifier #4.
