Mustangs drop only one game in women’s tennis romp

It was total domination when Morningside’s women’s tennis team lost only one game in the entire dual in a 9-0 trouncing of Buena Vista on Monday in Sioux City.
The Mustangs won four of the five singles matches and both doubles matches in straight sets. Morningside won the sixth singles flight and third doubles flight by forfeit as the Beavers competed with only five players.
The victory came in the Mustangs’ first competition of the fall season, while Buena Vista had its record drop to 0-3.
Aileen Fuchs, Katie Hanson, Megan Carlson, Natasha Hongsermeier, and Kathryn Jones won their singles matches on the court and Anna Tussing received the forfeit.
The Mustangs’ doubles tandems of Hanson and Cassie Stanek won 8-0 in the first flight and Fuchs and Tussing won 8-0 in the second flight. Hongsermeier and Jones won by forfeit in the third flight.
The Mustangs will compete in the ITA Regional on Friday through Sunday in Omaha, Neb.
