Mustangs fare well in 3200-meter relays at Drake Relays
Morningside placed fourth in the men’s college division 3200-meter relay and sixth in the women’s college division 3200-meter relay at the 107th running of the Drake Relays.
Morningside placed fourth in the men’s college division of the 3200-meter relay during Friday’s action at the 107th Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee.
The Mustangs’ quartet of Jacob Green, a sophomore from Sioux Falls, S.D.; Kyle Hiser, a junior from Shenandoah, Iowa; Drew Schiltz, a junior from Hinton, Iowa; and Jacob Willey, a senior from Onawa, Iowa, combined for a time of 7:38.78 to finish fourth in a field of 16 teams.
Morningside finished behind Indiana Tech University (7:34.25), Emporia State University (7:34.41) and Friends University (7:35.91).
On Saturday the Mustangs had a sixth place finish in the women’s college division 3200-meter relay when Tiffany Shepherd, a junior from Corning, Iowa; Michelle Mumm, a sophomore from Neola, Iowa; Payton Boer, a freshman from Sioux Center, Iowa; and Shelby Hall, a senior from Woodbine, Iowa, combined for a time of 9:20.53 to finish sixth in a field of 15 teams.
The Mustangs finished ninth in Friday’s women’s college division distance medley relay with a time of 12:12.41 from Shepherd, Boer, Mumm, and Morgan Applegarth, a freshman from Lincoln, Neb.
Morningside finished seventh in its preliminary heat and 27th overall in the men’s college division 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:21.21 from its team of Hiser, Green, Schiltz, and Willey.
