Mustangs Lead After Opening Round at GPAC Women’s Golf Championship
The Mustang women are in first place with a score of 310 after the opening round at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship played today at The Bluffs in Vermillion, S.D.
The Mustang women are in first place with a score of 310 after the opening round at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship played today at The Bluffs in Vermillion, S.D. The Mustangs are in a field of 12 teams, including Dakota Wesleyan in second place (333) and Concordia in third (334).
Senior Alex Mankle of Milford, IA, and Maria Nava of Monterrey, Mexico, both posted a 76 for the Mustangs on the par 72 course. They are currently in a tie for second place in the individual standings behind Kendra Placke (Concordia) who has a 75.
Morningside freshman Laia Badosa of Girona, Spain, shot a 78 and is tied for fifth. Sophomore Sam Knight of Onawa, IA, posted an 80 and is tied for seventh. Sophomore Maria Zorrilla of Torreon, Mexico, shot an 87 and is tied for 28th.
Round two begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 2, back at The Bluffs. Rounds three and four will take place in the spring at the York Country Club, Apr. 26-27, 2019.
