Morningside was tabbed for an eighth place finish in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Poll released on Oct. 21.
The Mustangs received 44 points from the league’s head coaches.
Morningside returns nine letter winners from a team that finished 28-5 last year, including a 17-3 mark in the GPAC to share the league’s regular season championship with Dakota Wesleyan, and advanced to the second round of the NAIA Division II National Tournament. The Mustangs graduated seven seniors, including four starters, from last year’s team.
Morningside will open the 2014-15 campaign with a 6 p.m. game against Grand View University on Thursday, Oct. 29, in Des Moines, Iowa.
