Mustangs place three on All-GPAC Women’s Golf Team
Kelsey Nelson, Cameron Oakley, and Jeicy Rivas Plata were all named to the All-GPAC Women’s Golf Team.
Kelsey Nelson, Cameron Oakley, and Jeicy Rivas Plata were all named to the 2013-14 All-Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Team as selected by the league’s head coaches.
Nelson and Oakley were both repeat selections from last year’s All-GPAC team.
Nelson, a senior from Rockford, Ill., led the Mustangs with a scoring average of 87.6 strokes per 18 holes over the fall and spring seasons. She led the team with an 86.9-stroke scoring average in the fall and an 88.3-stroke average in the spring. Nelson was the Mustangs’ top individual finisher in the combined scoring in this year’s four GPAC Qualifier tournaments with a total of 348 strokes for 13th place.
Oakley, a senior from Sioux City, was named to the All-GPAC team for the fourth time in her career. She had scoring averages of 88.0 in the fall and 93.7 in the spring for a combined average of 91.1. Oakley finished 15th in the GPAC Qualifier individual scoring with a 356.
Rivas Plata, a junior from Kissimmee, Fla., had scoring averages of 90.1 in the fall and 89.3 in the spring for a combined average of 89.9. Rivas Plata finished 14th in the GPAC Qualifier individual scoring with a 353.
Morningside finished third in the team standings at this year’s GPAC Qualifier tourneys with a four-round total of 1,419 strokes.
