Mustangs place two on academic all-district teams
Morningside’s Jared Jochum and Amy Samuelson were named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams.
Jared Jochum and Amy Samuelson were named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) College Division Academic All-District 3 Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams.
Their names will be placed on the national ballots for the selection of the CoSIDA College Division Academic All-America Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams.
Jochum, a sophomore midfielder from Dakota Dunes, S.D., has a 4.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with majors in biology and chemistry. He has scored two goals and four points this season.
Samuelson, a senior forward from Sioux City, has a 3.65 cumulative GPA with majors in biology and chemistry and a minor in business administration. Samuelson is the Mustangs’ leading scorer with career-high totals of 16 goals and 11 assists for 43 points. She ranks fifth in Morningside history with 36 career goals and 99 career points and third with 27 career assists. Samuelson was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the third time in her career.
Athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
