O’Neill is GPAC Player of the Week
Steve O’Neill earned the GPAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award for his 27-point performance in the Mustangs’ 84-82 win against Northwestern.
Steve O’Neill, a 6-0 senior guard from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 24-30.
O’Neill scored a game-high 27 points in the Mustangs’ 84-82 victory against Northwestern College on Nov. 25 in Sioux City. He drilled five of eight 3-point field goal attempts and was a perfect six-for-six from the free-throw line.
O’Neill is the Mustangs’ leading scorer with an average of 19.5 points per game and has been their leading scorer in four of their eight contests, including a career-high 31 points in the Mustangs’ 112-100 victory against William Penn University on Oct. 31 for the team’s top individual scoring performance of the season.
O’Neill is the Mustangs’ best 3-point shooter with a team-high 19 treys in 44 attempts for 43.2 percent and one of the nation’s best free throw shooters with 43 free throws in 46 attempts for 93.5 percent. He has made 23 consecutive free throw attempts since his last miss in the Mustangs’ 67-54 win against Ashford University on Nov. 8.
