Pawnee City prep all-stater to join men’s basketball team
All-stater Chase Grizzle of Pawnee City High School is the latest recruit to join the Mustang men’s basketball team.
Chase Grizzle, a 6-2 guard from Pawnee City, Neb., will enroll at Morningside College this fall and compete for the Mustangs’ men’s basketball team announced Morningside men’s basketball head coach Jim Sykes.
Grizzle is a senior at Pawnee City High School, where he earned second-team Class D-1 all-state honors from the Lincoln Journal-Star and the McCook Gazette in addition to honorable mention all-state laurels from the Omaha World-Herald this past season. Grizzle, a two-time first-team All-Pioneer Conference performer, scored 751 points and made 120 of 293 3-point field goal attempts for 41.0 percent during his prep career.
He was Pawnee City’s leading scorer and third leading rebounder with averages of 15.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this past season. He made 105 of 248 field goal attempts for 42.3 percent and 63 of 159 3-point field goal attempts for 39.6 percent.
Grizzle received honorable mention Class D-1 all-state recognition from the Lincoln Journal-Star and the Omaha World-Herald as both a junior and sophomore. He earned second-team all-state honors from the McCook Gazette and Huskerland Preps as a junior.
Grizzle will join a Morningside team that posted a 25-9 record and won the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Post-Season Tournament to earn a NAIA Division II National Tournament berth this past season.
