Professor helps plan global entrepreneurs’ conference, 11 students attend
Dr. Pam Mickelson, retired professor of business at Morningside College, recently helped plan The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) Global Conference and Pitch Competition in Kansas City, Mo. Eleven students attended the conference with her, and one was a finalist in the pitch competition.
Dr. Pam Mickelson, retired professor of business at Morningside College, recently helped plan The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) Global Conference and Pitch Competition in Kansas City, Mo. Eleven students attended the conference with her, and one was a finalist in the pitch competition.
CEO is an organization for college students who want to one day become entrepreneurs. It has over 250 chapters globally.
Mickelson served on the planning committee for the conference, and she chaired the chapter development sessions.
Morningside students who led panel sessions on chapter best practices included Jaclyn Arens of Yankton, S.D.; Alana Callahan of Brandon, S.D.; Tyler Haberman of Fairbank, Iowa; Jennifer Hernandez of Santa Ana, Calif.; and Kaitlynn McShane of Bennington, Neb.
Student Samuel Padilla Castro of Bogota, Colombia, participated in the pitch competition and made it to the finals. Out of hundreds of students, his business plan made it to the top eight.
Other Morningside students who attended the conference were Will Griffin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Courtney Klocke of Dedham, Iowa; Elizabeth Kruchten of Minneapolis, Minn.; Sterling Stecker of Forest City, Iowa; and Niccole Wolken of Marshalltown, Iowa.
Mickelson joined Morningside’s faculty in 1988 and retired in December. She has a doctorate from Oklahoma State University.
