Greg P. Guelcher, professor of history, recently was re-elected to serve as executive secretary of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs at the organization’s annual meeting. This is his fourth three-year term.

Greg P. Guelcher, professor of history at Morningside College, recently was re-elected to serve as executive secretary of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs (MCAA) at the organization’s annual meeting. This is his fourth three-year term.

As executive secretary, Guelcher manages the daily business and finances of the conference, as well as helps plan and manage the annual meeting. He also serves as the book review editor of the conference’s online, peer-reviewed journal, “Studies on Asia.”

Also at the annual meeting, Guelcher served as a faculty judge for the undergraduate student paper prize competition and was chair and discussant for a conference panel titled “Across Asia, Across Time.”

MCAA provides a forum for scholars and teachers of Asian studies in the Midwest to exchange knowledge about the history and cultures of Asia.

Guelcher, who has been teaching at Morningside College since 1996, received his bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster in Ohio and his master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
