Professor leads session at conference for English teachers
Marty Knepper, professor of English and chair of the English and modern languages departments, recently led a session at the Iowa Council of Teachers of English conference in Johnston, Iowa.
Marty Knepper, professor of English and chair of the English and modern languages departments at Morningside College, recently led a session at the Iowa Council of Teachers of English conference in Johnston, Iowa.
Her presentation focused on using recent Iowa films to teach English and interdisciplinary courses.
Knepper recently co-wrote and published “The Book of Iowa Films,” a history and discussion of over 400 Iowa movies from 1918 through 2013, including both Hollywood films and independent films. She also was a contributing expert for the “Hollywood in the Heartland” exhibit that will be at the State Historical Museum of Iowa in Des Moines through late 2016.
Knepper has been a member of Morningside’s faculty since 1984 and has taught courses in American popular culture, literature, writing and film. Knepper has a doctorate in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The Iowa Council of Teachers of English facilitates connections and professional learning, face-to-face and online, for English and language arts teachers of all stages.
