Professor leads workshop, presents paper at conferences

David Elder, associate professor of writing and rhetoric at Morningside College, recently led a workshop and presented a paper at conferences in Missouri and California.
Elder led a workshop titled “Fostering Undergraduate Research” at the annual Conference on College Composition and Communication in Kansas City, Mo. He helped writing teachers create assignments that lead students to create unique and creative undergraduate research in writing studies.
He presented a paper titled “Hashtags and the Death of the Enthymeme” at the annual Conversation on the Liberal Arts conference at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Elder has been teaching at Morningside since 2010. He is the director of the Morningside College Writing Center. Elder has received two Walker Faculty Excellence Awards from the college, one in 2012 and one in 2017. He has a doctorate from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
