David Elder, assistant professor of writing and rhetoric at Morningside College, recently started a podcast to help other teachers use podcasts as a resource in their classrooms.
The Podcast Review Podcast takes an in-depth look at a different podcast each week. Elder reviews the podcast for how it could be used in a classroom setting. The free podcast can be found by searching for Elder’s name on iTunes or at www.podcastreviewpodcast.com.
“I review podcasts that I think would be good for teachers to use as ‘readings’ in their classes,” Elder said. “My favorite so far is a podcast called ‘Lexicon Valley,’ a podcast about words and etymology, the study of word origins. I think it would be a great podcast to assign in many different types of English and writing classes.”
Elder has been teaching at Morningside since 2010. He is the director of the Morningside College Writing Center. He has a doctorate from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
