Cassie Stanek is the GPAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for April 25-May 1.
Cassie Stanek, a junior from Sioux City, has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for April 25 to May 1.
Stanek lost only one game in two singles victories against opponents from Midland University and Nebraska Wesleyan University last week to improve her season’s record to 13-1 and her career record to 32-4. Three of Stanek’s last four triumphs have come by margins of 6-0, 6-0.
Aside from her two singles victories, Stanek also paired with Katie Hanson, a senior from Saint Peter, Minn., to win both of their doubles matches to improve their record to 15-2 and tie a Morningside record for doubles victories in a season.
Morningside won the GPAC’s regular season championship with a perfect 8-0 record to earn the No. 1 seed for this weekend’s GPAC Tennis Tournament in Fremont, Neb.
