Cassie Stanek is the GPAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Cassie Stanek, a senior from Sioux City, is the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for March 20-26.
Stanek helped lead the Mustangs to an 8-1 triumph against former GPAC rival Nebraska Wesleyan University in their only dual of the week. Stanek did not lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Bridget McKeegan in the No. 1 singles flight and combined with Ons Souissi, a sophomore from Ariana, Tunisia, for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Stanek improved her season’s singles record to 11-3 and raised her career mark to 46-7 for the second highest singles victory total in Morningside history. She is four wins shy of the Mustang record of 50 career singles victories held by 2015 graduate Megan Solberg.
The Mustangs will take an 8-1 record into their GPAC opener against Concordia University on April 8 in Seward, Neb.
