Students inducted into history honor society

Seven Morningside College students recently were inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society.
The students were Aaron Brown, a graduating senior from Walthill, Neb.; Samuel Cunningham, a senior from Bettendorf, Iowa; Alec Michael DeVries, a junior from Merrill, Iowa; Abigail Hoy, a senior from Spencer, Iowa; Forrest Davis Maxon, a graduating senior from Mission Viejo, Calif.; Nicholas Misukanis, a senior from Mendota Heights, Minn.; and Zachary Lawrence Torgerson, a senior from Sioux City.
Phi Alpha Theta promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. The society has over 350,000 members, including undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history, at over 860 local chapters.
Membership is granted based on high academic achievement in history and in general. Dr. Greg P. Guelcher, professor of history, is the faculty adviser for the Morningside chapter.
