Students present research at Midwest Political Science Association meeting
Six Morningside College students recently presented research at the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Six Morningside College students recently presented research at the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Hope Forman, a graduating senior from Glenwood, Iowa, spoke about “Poverty in the Midst of Economic Growth: A Case Study of Tanzania’s Inability to Eradicate Extreme Poverty.” Brandon McComas, a graduating senior from George, Iowa, talked about “Trade Liberalization and the World Trade Organization: Vietnam’s Case Study of an Economic Dilemma.”
Alex O’Neill, a graduating senior from Ponca, Neb., gave a presentation on “The Impact of Structural Adjustment Policies on Increases in Inequality: The Story of Nigeria.” Amy Widman, a senior from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, gave a presentation on “Natural Resource Curse or Blessing: Which is it?” Mallory Johnson, a senior from Spencer, Iowa, and Nick Drenth, a graduating senior from Hartley, Iowa, spoke about “Diversification in Oil Rich Countries: A Case for Iran and Saudi Arabia.”
Other Morningside College students who attended the meeting were Lexi Fairbanks, a junior from Davenport, Iowa, and Kyle McGlade, a graduating senior from Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Dr. Patrick McKinlay, professor of political science and chair of economics, political science and sociology, and Dr. Valerie Hennings, assistant professor of political science, accompanied the students to the meeting.
The Midwest Political Science Association is dedicated to the advancement of scholarship in all areas of political science.
