Symphonic Wind Ensemble to present winter concert
Morningside College’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in Eppley Auditorium.
Morningside College’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.
The performance is free and open to the public. The band will play works by Ron Nelson, Joseph Spaniola, Fisher Tull, John Mackey, Russell Peck, Paul Jeanjean and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is a concert band that performs music written for winds and percussion. It is under the direction of Shane Macklin, assistant professor of music at Morningside College.
The concert also will feature clarinetist Robert Spring and an ensemble of high school and college clarinetists. Spring has performed as a soloist with symphony orchestras and wind bands in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America. He served as president of the International Clarinet Association from 1998 to 2000. Currently, he is a professor of music in clarinet at Arizona State University.
