Theatre department to present “Trifles”
The Morningside College Theatre Department will present the play “Trifles” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, through Saturday, April 14, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, in Klinger-Neal Theatre.

Tickets are $7, in cash or check only, at the door. There is some talk of violence in the play. Taylor Clemens, assistant professor of theatre, is the director.
In “Trifles,” Mrs. Wright has been arrested and accused of murdering her husband. The county attorney, local sheriff and neighbor who found the body inspect the crime scene to find evidence and a motive for the murder. Two of their wives come to the house to collect a few items for Mrs. Wright back at the jail and discover clues that may reveal the motive for the murder. Then they must decide whether to share what they have found with the men.
Student cast members include Joey Volquartsen of Stanton, Iowa, as Mrs. Wright; Madison Schueth of Fremont, Neb., as Mrs. Hale; Hailey Barrus of Belmond, Iowa, as Mrs. Peters; Jason Latta of Greeley, Colo., as Sheriff Peters; Jared Kamrath of South Sioux City, Neb., as Mr. Hale; and Brock Bourek of Columbus, Neb., as the county attorney.
Bourek is also the scenic designer. Other students on the crew include Annalee Dorsey of Kansas City, Kan., as stage manager; Katelyn Stewart of Crofton, Neb., as assistant stage manager; Engels Perez Boscan of Caracas, Venezuela, as lighting and sound designer; Katsunori Baba of Fukuoka, Japan, as wardrobe crew; Bradley Davis of Mapleton, Iowa, as backstage crew; Shyanne Raff of Dakota City, Neb., as house manager; Bryce Pape of Sioux City as light board operator; Grant Turner of Moville, Iowa, as composer and band leader; and Amy Jackson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Justin Averch of Parker, Colo., as band members.
Recent graduate Erica Young is the costume designer. Casey Clemens is the props designer and scenic charge artist.
