Jessica Tietz, a 6-2 senior forward from Bancroft, Neb., has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 22-28.

Tietz averaged 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game to lead the Mustangs to GPAC Post-Season Tournament victories against College of Saint Mary and Briar Cliff University. She grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds for the Mustangs’ top rebound total of the season to go along with 28 points for the second highest scoring performance of her career in Morningside’s 97-68 triumph against Briar Cliff in the GPAC Tournament Semifinals. Tietz drilled 11 of 14 field goal attempts against the Chargers to raise her season’s totals to 202 field goals in 313 attempts to lead the nation in field goal accuracy at 64.5 percent. She has connected on 71.3 percent of her field goal attempts over the last 14 games.

Tietz is the leading scorer and rebounder with averages of 15.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for a Morningside team that has a 30-2 record and is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the NAIA Division II. She has increased her scoring output to an average of 19.6 points per game over the last 12 contests. Tietz scored a career-high 32 points in the Mustangs’ 80-74 win against Dakota Wesleyan University on Feb. 10 for the Mustangs’ top individual scoring performance of the season.

Tietz is the 10th leading scorer and 10th leading rebounder in Morningside history with 1374 career points and 745 career rebounds.
