Top 10 Ways to Get Involved on Campus

  1. Go to the fall and spring activities fair – This is a great way to see all of the clubs and organizations that campus has to offer. This is an easy way to get involved right away and requires minimal effort, just put your name on the sheet!
  2. Look at “This week at Mside” – This weekly Eblast gives you all the information for upcoming events happening right here on campus! Attending these events is a great way to meet new people and have fun while taking a break from your busy schedules.
  3. Apply for a work-study – Morningside offers many different job opportunities on campus. From being a peer mentor to working the front desk at the Hyper, there is sure to be an option for you. Having a work-study is a way to meet new people, gain work experience, and make some money!
  4. Attend sporting events – Show your Mside spirit while having a fun time and meeting others. You also might be able to get some free swag or snacks sponsored by organizations and clubs on campus!
  5. Attend Fine Arts – There are theatre productions, Choir, and band events, along with two art galleries displayed in the Eugene C. Eppley Fine Arts Building. There are also many opportunities to submit art and have it displayed as well! Show off your creative skills and be a part of the fine arts department!
  6. Go to MAC activities – The Morningside Activities Counsel provides a wide array of events for the student body. They organize make-and-take crafts in the Olsen Student Center and many games such as bingo and free money game show. They also bring performers to campus and have some off-campus events at cone park, rollerama, and the promenade for example! Go meet some people and have fun while doing it!
  7. RA Events – Resident halls hold many events that are sometimes open to all students. There are crafts, food, and mindfulness activities that are sure to give you a break from your busy schedules. Go unwind, meet some new people, and maybe learn about becoming an RA if you’re interested!
  8. Intramurals – Go let some steam off by playing sports with other students right here on campus. Intramurals are a great way to not only get active but to also hang out with other students. You don’t have to be great at the game, it’s all about having fun and learning along the way!
  9. Attend events related to major – Many departments have events open to people within it or not that are just curious. For example, the biology department has a potluck where there’s food, animals, and games, and you can even ask your professors last-minute questions before finals! This is a great opportunity to form relationships with professors and students in your major and to also see the many clubs 
  10. Pay attention to your email – Most importantly check your email daily to hear about events on campus! Your Morningside email is where people have the easiest opportunity to communicate with you. Checking your email frequently is the best way to hear about events on campus in advance.
