Doug Vanecek was named the GPAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his complete game gem in the Mustangs’ 4-2 win against No. 22 Vanguard.
Doug Vanecek, a senior pitcher from Tabor, S.D., has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 7-13.
Vanecek pitched a nine-inning complete game five-hitter to help lead the Mustangs to a 4-2 victory against 22nd-ranked Vanguard University on March 10 in Costa Mesa, Calif. Vanecek had three strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter.
Vanecek is 4-0 with a 2.45 earned run average so far this season. He has allowed only 14 hits in 22 innings.
