Doug Vanecek was named the GPAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Doug Vanecek, a senior pitcher from Tabor, S.D., has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 21-27.
Vanecek pitched six shutout innings in last Friday’s 12-0 victory against Southwestern Assemblies of God. He allowed only four hits, walked one, and struck out five while taking part in his second combined shutout of the season.
Vanecek received the GPAC Pitcher of the Week award for the second time this season. He was this year’s initial GPAC Pitcher of the Week recipient for the week of March 7-13.
He is the top winner on the Mustangs’ pitched staff with a 5-1 record. Vanecek has a 2.78 earned run average and has allowed only 25 hits in 32.1 innings. Vanecek’s pitching exploits have helped stake the Mustangs to a 22-5 start to the season.
