Wegher shines at Medal of Honor Bowl
Brandon Wegher was the game’s leading rusher in the Medal of Honor Bowl college all-star game.
Morningside’s Brandon Wegher was the leading rusher in the second annual Medal of Honor Bowl college all-star football game when he helped leads the National team to a 26-14 victory against the American team on Saturday in Charleston, S.C.
Wegher rushed for 90 yards in 14 attempts for an average of 6.4 yards per carry. His longest run from scrimmage went for 20 yards
The Medal of Honor Bowl is a premier all-star game that features the nation’s top draft-eligible college football players as projected for the NFL Draft. The game honors the Medal of Honor recipients and the game’s beneficiaries, the Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, disabled veterans and wounded warriors.
Wegher was invited to play in the contest following a standout 2014 season at Morningside where he rushed for 2610 yards to break the NAIA national record for yards rushing in a season. He finished his Morningside career as the all-time leading rusher in school history with 3815 yards in his two-year career with the Mustangs. He is also Morningside’s all-time leader with 52 career touchdowns.
