Writer on climate change’s effects in Iowa to present lecture at Morningside College

Noted ecologist and author Cornelia Mutel will speak at Morningside College at 7 p.m. Monday, April 10, in Weikert Auditorium in Buhler Rohlfs Hall, 1701 Morningside Ave.
Her talk, titled “A Sugar Creek Chronicle: Communicating Climate Change, Composing Hope,” will focus on the impacts of climate change in Iowa and dealing with climate anxiety. She will also discuss how to write effectively about environmental science.
Mutel is a senior science writer at the University of Iowa’s IIHR-Hydroscience and Engineering, a world-renowned center for education, research and public service focusing on hydraulic engineering and fluid mechanics. Mutel is the author of 15 books, the majority of which speak to Iowa’s natural history and environmental issues.
The lecture is free and open to the public. The lecture is sponsored Beta Beta Beta biology honor society and the Morningside College Biology and Chemistry Department.
