MORNINGSIDE SYMPHONIC CHORUS
Repertoire for Spring 2025 includes Handel, Mozart, Faure, and Jerod Tate, joined by Stephanie March on cello. The new commission is The Charm by Peter Hamlin, for SATB and electronic sounds.
The Morningside Symphonic Chorus (previously known as the Master Chorale) is a community choir open to anyone who wants to sing in a choral ensemble and perform incredible works of music by new and historic composers. The chorus will have section leaders and study aids available to assist with learning the music.
All are welcome to sing in the chorus, which will include new members, Morningside University students, local music educators and musicians, and former Master Chorale members. You do not need to be affiliated with Morningside or have an extensive musical background to be part of the choir – the Morningside Symphonic Chorus is for any Siouxlander who wants to learn and share music with our community.

FAQS
The Morningside Symphonic Chorus is a masterworks chorus. Our repertoire is often performed in collaboration with orchestra and soloists. Some of the music will be from living composers creating music in the modern-day and much of the music performed by the chorus will be from composers throughout history such as Handel, Verdi, and Mozart.
Recent performances have included
- Carl Orff Carmina Burana
- Gustav Mahler Resurrection Symphony
- Te Deum settings of Henry Purcell, Michael Haydn, and David van Kampen
- Maurice Durufle Requiem
The Spring 2025 program will feature a varied program of music with cello and a world premiere by Peter Hamlin.
The Morningside Symphonic Chorus will not perform at Christmas at Morningside.
Members interested in being involved in Christmas at Morningside can sing in the combined choir with the University students or attend the concert to support Morningside’s music program.
